SSH Authentication for home use

I've been looking into the configuration of my home WiFi access point, particularly SSH authentication. From what I can see, it's use is if you plan on accessing a network through a public portal. Well, I do not plan on configuring my WiFi for public use. In fact, I'm thinking of hiding the SSID so that it's harder for hackers to find it. Nor do I plan on configuring it away from home. As such, I'm thinking the SSH authentication really isn't necessary for someone using it for private, home use.

I'm not aware of SSH router option, I suppose it's purpose is to access router from public network.
Or to access local network via SSH, you only need to setup SSH server on target computers, and open port 22 in router.

But to hide SSID, that's easy to do in router configuration, however it's purpose is not to stop hackers finding SSID, finding out hidden SSID takes just a few seconds.

It's purpose is only that it's hidden for neighborhood and not broadcasted.

Well, obviously, if a hacker want to hack into our WiFi, he will. However, in our neighborhood where a sea of WiFi access points is easily viewable, I figured a hidden WiFi is less likely a target.
