The LCD is not killed because it did go back on for me briefly, it did the same "clouding" thing where the picture came back in one corner first and then it all came back. Then a few seconds later it went to black again.
Then this morning when I turned it on, as it was booting, the Think Vantage logo and loading screens showed up perfectly in color, but as soon as the fingerprint login box came up, the picture faded to almost black. I can still login, and when I do, I see the outline of my MSN window pop up and the outline of other boxes, but they are extremely faded into almost all black.
Just once, I wish someone would come here BEFORE they attempt a repair and add insult to injury.
It is difficult to come online to find a solutiion when you do not have a computer to use. I had to come to the University to use a computer and I didn't want to leave the water just sitting there, I had to make use of what I have, it's not like I have air in a can sitting in my dorm room unfortunately.
I will get it into a repairshop eventually, but it is a bad time right now as I have exams this and next week and am travelling out of country next week. I do have some experience with electronics so I was hoping it was something I could manage to repair on my own.
jackdw Could it be that the backlight has gone and all your seeing is the actualy picture just not lit up?
Maybe, is it possible that a problem with the wiring or chip for the backlight could cause not just the whole thing to go, but a part to stay lit briefly?
