I recently purchased a set of Logitech Logitech Z-640 speakers and cannot get the rear speakers to work.

I need to get into the nForce audio control panel and check some settings but can't figure out how to do it. On the nvidia site it says that's it can be opened from the control panel but mine only shows Nvidia Nview Desktop Manager but not the audio control panel.

At one time I had this icon in my tray and have no idea what happened to it...........must be those nasty gremlins again.

I have changed the settings in sound properties to 5.1 surround sound but still no sound from the rear speakers.

I'm not much with computers so I might not have supplied enough infomation.

I and XP Pro and I have an Asus A7N8X2.0

Thanks in advance for your help.

If the icon was in your tray try going to run and type in MSCONFIG. Then find startup and find the path of the thing that was in your tray. Checkmark that and restart and the icon should be back again.

It's not there. I enabled everything and restarted and it's still not there. I know absolutely at one time it was there but now it's gone.

Recently I had my computer upgraded with new mobo, ram, etc and when I brought it home and set it up the icon was in the tray. I can't remember if I deleted it or what but this is certainly turning into a mystery.

Thanks for your help.

Have you tried re-installing the drivers/software for the Nforce?

Reinstall and choose the 4 speaker or 5.1 speaker option... ;)

Keep in mind I have no idea what I'm doing but I'll try:)

On the Nforce 2 cd there are 2 things: Nvidia N force driver and USB 2.0 driver.

I just need the N force driver part. Right?

And also don't I uninstall the current driver before I reinstall the software?

Thank heavens for all you techies out there.

Thanks for the help!

If you have to uninstall the old driver, it should warn you first or it will over write with the new drivers ;)
