I recently installed a new sound card "soundblaster awe" on my isa slot,installed the soundblaster drivers,when i reboot my pc sometimes the pc detects my soundcard and other times wont even detect the sound card at all in the device manager,i disabled my onboard sound and unistalled the onboard sound drivers but my pc keeps reinstalling my onboard soundcard and driver. what could cause this?

G'day Johnny, that must be some system you have there!
When the machine boots it keeps finding the onboard, that is very odd.
I would be inclined to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard sound and all its accessory bits there. Some machines have a jumper on the actual M/board that may need to be repositioned. It may be an idea to read your motherboard manual.
Why are you changing from onboard to the S/B ISA. That sounds like a backward step or is it because you don't have an amplifier speaker set?
