I am trying to set my computer, so that when it is in sleep
mode, i can just hit any key to activate. But I am not sure
as to the process in the BIOS.This is the path taken and it is
not working even after re-booting ?
BIOS;
A) Power Mngt Features >
B) Set wake up events >
C) Wake up by keyboard from S3 ----- ENABLED
Wake up key ----- ANY KEY
What is S3 ? OS XP HOME: BIOS American Megatrends Inc.
V.07.00T

Thanks,

S3 is the wakeup state and it looks like any key pressed should bring it out of standby. If you are having problems with Power Management look in your Power Options in Control Panel. It may be conflicting.

Standby codes

S0 = Normal up and running
S1 = Drives and Display turned off - power to CPU, RAM, fans
S2 = Drives, Display, CPU turned off - power to RAM, fans
S3 = Power to RAM only (a.k.a. "trickle")
S4 = Hibernate
S5 = Computer turned off
