Solved: XP Home Sound control program

917 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  flavallee
Recently I had the OS re-installed and now I have no sound. I get a message that the " sound control program "
has to be installed. I went to add/remove as they suggested to find " multi-media " but to no avail. Need some
assistance. OS XP Home SP3

Thanks,

Billjh

Is this the Dell Dimension 2400?? Check in Device Manager. You may need to re-install the sound driver.

See an old post of yours. Check the last reply by flavallee.

Before you do a clean reinstall of Windows XP SP3 in that Dell Dimension 2400, you should download and save and then burn its drivers to a CD-R.

You can then install the needed ones afterwards from the CD-R.

The chipset and graphics and audio and ethernet drivers are the primary ones that you want to download and save and burn off.

I had to go to the MS web site and installed the program as instructed. See:

Thanks again,
