Hi,
It's Word docs I need to compare and I think one of these progs is what I need, but which one?

either: AsciiDiff File Compare Utility (Version 1.6.0).

or: Word Doc DiffTM

Has anyone used either? What did you think of them? Or can you suggest any (free) simple to use alternatives?

Thanks
Richard

Comparing the ASCII of a Word document will be a lot of frustration. There is a tremendous amount of difference between just two slightly altered versions of the same Word document because there is a heck of a lot of data in a Word document, not just the text you see.

Something called "Word Doc Diff" sounds more workable.

Have you tried the compare tools and abilities already built into Word, yet?

Chucke,
Thanks for your reply, I looked at word's exsting options but was concerned that as I had not always got docs with changes tracked there might be hickups. Also I was concerned about accidently getting in to merging, which i might not need.
Thanks for the warning about ASCII, I agree that would be more than I need.

Richard
