Got a Belkin wireless router, hooked it up 2 pc #1, have internet connection, so got a Belkin usb wireless adaptor 4 pc #2 & hooked it up, have internet connection, altho zonealarm gave me fits til i added ip ranges 2 ea setup 4 each pc's ip addr. have ran network setup wizard, wireless network wizard, enabled file & printer sharing, but cannot get the 2nd pc 2 detect the printer on the mshome network. do i need a wireless adaptor 4 the printer as well?? have googled til i'm blue in the face & just can't figure it out. haven't figured out how 2 do file sharing either do i need 2 turn on the guest acct's like i read somewhere, or create a new acct on each pc using the same name? ready that also... any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!

pc #2 is running xp, dell dimension 2400, 512 mb ram, belkin usb wireless adaptor, intel motherboard, maxtor 160 gb hdd, zonealarm, avast, ccleaner, adaware & windows defender.

I'm gonna have some more advise for ya in a second Im running in linux I need to restart and get into XP.

i'm on pc #2 now, can see it in my network places, but not pc #1... went 2 lexmark's website, my printer isn't setup 4 wireless networking, so guess that's out. not a big deal if i can't file share, just wanna know how 2 do it if i can lol. Thx

Open Printers and Faxes. Its in the control panel
Right-click the printer you want to share, and then click Sharing.
click on share this printer then give it a sharename

also make sure both computers have the same workgroup or domain name this is checked by rtclickin mycomputer then clicking properties then going to the computer name tab make sure the workgroup name is exactly the same.



its gettin a lil late i'm gonna shove off to bed I have the be at work at 8. If those things dont work try disabling any firewall on both computers.

have done all that workgroup is same name, printer is shared on pc #1, so r files; when i click add printer in pc #2 go thru the wizard & browse 4 a printer in mshome, it can't find it. when i add \\server\printer it still can't find it lol. even turned off zonealarm, restarted thinking it would make a diff, but nope oh well!

what you want to type in is \\(name of computer with printer connected)\(name of printer)

try this on both machines go to my network places and run the wizard that is just above the wireless networking wizard its called set up home office or small office network

1st rule, ck ur cables 2 make sure they're connected in the right order
