Here I go again. Replaced a SBC (ATT, etc.) 2Wire with a newer 2Wire (the old one fried). I hooked up my laptop and configured the 2Wire (signed on with my account, not the customer) via ethernet. Everything including wireless config looked OK. I was able to receive an IP address and access the internet. Checked the 2Wire and everything was set to default values. While able to access the internet via a wired connection, my laptop, customer's laptop and desktop all failed in connecting in wireless mode. I could not obtain an IP address at all from the 2Wire, all I would receive is a 169.* address after this failed. This is a 2701HG-B 2Wire access point. I tried hard coding IP addresses (gateway, DNS, DHCP from gateway and from ISP). All three wireless configurations could see and access the 2Wire but would not receive an IP address. One system using XP wireless software, one system using Linksys, one using Belkin. All responded the same way, all had the correct WEP encryption code. Before I send this unit back to ATT and wait another week or two, are there any thing specific to this router that is different than other 2Wire systems.
