Hey, I started running into this problem just yesterday. What happened was that I restarted my computer, it shut down, started loading up fine, got PAST the Windows loading screen and was about to enter the login menu, but instead the screen remained black for a few seconds and the computer promptly shut down and restarted itself automatically. As it booted back up again, everything loaded correctly and my session was otherwise uninterrupted. I didn't worry about it too much, I figured it was just a minor software problem maybe, until today. I went to start up my computer this morning when the same problem happened - except it restarted itself about TWELVE times (I'm not sure of the number, I lost track after ten). I am afraid to reboot my computer, because I fear that I may not be able to get it running again.

Note: All programs, applications, services, and hardware work fine after Windows boots. I scanned the hard drive with AdAware and AVG Antivirus and both came back clean.

Thanks,

Matt

try booting into safe mode TAP F8 as it boots

then

goto
control panel>
system>
advanced tab>
startup and recovery - settings>
under the title - system failure
untick - automatically restart

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320299

now when it crashes - it willnot restart and the blue screen should stay on the screen
post the info on the screen
it will give the errorcodes and a filename, if caused by a driver.

-----------

have you loaded any updates, programs , virus scanners redcently
