Solved: What's the best way to change the startup menu?

I know that I have too many programs running and I want to uncheck some of them in the startup menu. I don't even know what some of them are, e.g. 'ctfmon', 'MSASCui',....I used to do it in WIN 98 with success. I did it with WIN XP and I get this intimidating message from the System Configuration Utility that makes me feel uneasy that I messed with the startup menu. How can I stop programs from loading automatically that I don't want without getting the System Configuration Utility warning?
Thanks.

A good place to check to see what the programs are that run at startup or the processes in Task Manager is here:

Click on the "Tasks" button.

A good substitute for msconfig is Startup CPL (freeware)
