Hi everyone. ;) Please offer your opinion about which would be the best and most secure browser for me to download. I've been using IE6 for the past couple of years and with all of the security issues etc. I don't want to use it anymore. I'm looking for a browser that is both very secure and very user friendly. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks alot. ;)

My opinion is to try Firefox.
I'm sure it has it's own flaws but it is not highly targeted as IE is.
Stay away from any "browsers" that actually just sit on top of IE.

Not sure, Angel, what you mean by "just sit on top of IE." Can you give me some examples?
Several browsers are based on IE (such as Maxthon but there are others) and would, theoretically, be subject to the same security risks.

Whichever alternative browser you try, you must be sure to disable as many of the vulnerable features in IE as you can. This is because IE is so integrated into your OS that it remains vulnerable even when not in use.

This is an old article about securing IE, so it doesn't take into account any of the changes made by SP2, but, as the most recent exploits make clear, having things like cross domain scripting or ActiveX enabled is still inadvisable;https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/btw/ie/ie-opts.htm

Mozilla for me - but that still doesn't mean you are secure as there are other wasy and things that get you.

You must have an up to date AV and I strongly suggest:

SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
AdAware SE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
SpyBot S&D 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
SpyBot - After an update run immunize and make sure teatimer is enabled

Check them at least once a week for updates

Firefox seems to be the browser of choice, BUT--- and this is a big fat caveat, as a greater number of users switch to Firefox, it will draw the fire away from IE and it will become the target du jour.
Is it inherently more secure than IE? Probably not since Open Source has the double edged blade of having its code laid open for the world [and hackers] to see.
Is Linux more secure than Windows? Not really enough Linux users to draw in a large number of hackers and crackers yet. It's my firm belief that nothing that accesses the Internet can ever be 100% secure.
