I looked at the Vista web site and noticed that the major differences betwwen Home Premium and Ultimate were the backup software for business and some networking mumbo jumbo. I don't need any business type features so I was planning on getting Home Premium, but I noticed that under Ultimate it said I would also get Windows Ultimate Extras. What are those extras and are they worth the extra $100?

There are no "Ultimate Extras" yet, I keep looking for them when I go to Windows Update. :) Right now, I can tell you for sure they're not worth $100! :D

From the "Windows Vista Editions Features Table"
This is a list of what is in Ultimate and is not in Premium.

Complete PC Backup and Restore (image based)
Shadow Copy(restore previous versions of your documents)
Two Processor Socket Support
Offline Folder Support
Maximum Ram supported with 64 bit System (16gb for premium, 128+GB for Ultimate)
Small Business Resources
Windows Fax and Scan
Wireless Network Provisioning
Windows Mobility Center (Paritial Support in Premium)
Offline Folder Support
Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption
Subsystem for Unix-based applications
And a bunch of other crap that doesn't matter for the Home user

The latest table I have doesn't show if you get Remote Desktop or not. I believe the last table I had said no, but you can always use VNC for that.

The has always been available for all versions of Windows but XP Pro is the only one that has the server. I believe that it will be the same Vista. Premium will have the client but not the server. So you can remote into any other computer but not into a Vista Premium computer with RDP.
