Currently running Windows ME and tried installing XP Pro upgrade. Upgrade ran all the way to end and rebooted and started fine. After checking to see if programs were working I rebooted and the computer keeps running CHKDISK on both drives.
I have to 2 drives on this system and cannot figure out which drive contains ME so I can isolate it and just install one drive.
Previously Ghosted one of the hard drives and when XP Pro wouldn't load I just ghosted it back to its original system.
My computer shows that my C: drive is my larger drive (80gigs) and D: is the smaller. But the way the cables are setup is that Disk0 cable is connected to smaller drive and Disk1 cable is the larger drive. I know that the smaller drive is configured as CS instead of slave.
Where is Windows ME loaded and how come I can't upgrade?

whats the other drive set to
try setting one to master and one to slave

do you still have the ME CD - not sure if you will need this to re-install XP as you have an upgrade disk

Second drive is set to slave. But when I go into CMOS it shows the larger drive being Primary and the smaller drive is Secondary.
I have also checked the partitons and the small drive has a Windows 98 partition but the larger drive has just one large partition.
It installed correctly until I rebooted a second time and its like it forgot where to go and went into a chdisk loop.
