Well if you want speed i suggest you look for something along the lines of a Pentium 4 or Pentium D processor, with at least 2.0GHz (make sure its not MHz
). As with what ozromb1e said, make sure you get at least 512mb in RAM. With what you say you use it for, you probably will be good with a cheapo on-board graphics card and sound card. When your shopping for that new computer (i suggest you just buy a new one opposed to upgrading you current one, that would cost alot more in your situation) you should make your main focus on a decent processor and good RAM. Your average price would be around $300-$400. Make sure to shop around plenty and dont get ripped off
