I've noticed that in system restore, there are some dates that have NO resote points. I also notice that it gives me the option to restore to: "Scheduled Restore Points Created by your Computer" What is this? Is there a way to set up my pc to create restore points as a sheduled task. I feel the more restore points the better. I remember Win. Me. had a problem with not creating enough restore points and I believe there was a 'patch' for that? Is there a patch for XP? Thanks :) ...............Dave

Hey Money Pit,

A System Restore is created every 24 hours if the computer is turned on, or if it has been 24 hours since the last restore point was created. Scheduled restore-point creation occurs when the computer is idle, when there is no mouse, keyboard, or disk activity.

Creating restore points at preset intervals Restore-point creation at specified intervals is disabled by default but can be enabled by using the registry editor, Regedit.exe. See Table D.4 later in this appendix for a description of the System Restore registry entries RPSessionInterval and RPGlobalInterval.

This info is from: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prmb_tol_fngj.asp

I'm not sure what you intend on doing, needing a restore point everyday, but keep in mind, depending on how much 'stuff' you have on your comp, too many system restore points will use up lotsa space and system usage-well, that is to the maximium amount of space you permit system restore to grab... i believe it's up to 12% - by your choice [ under rt.clix MyComp/Properties/System Restore tab/Resource Slider bar. My opinion is to just have a month at most of restore points, and not necessarily everyday. If you go too far back in doing a system restore, you'll probably comeup with problems stemming from drivers, updates, and proggies needing to be reinstalled~err, tinkered annoyingly with. XP is good in that it'll auto set restore points on system modifying installations, which Windows ME didn't do.
