Hi, I have got a realtech ac97 sound card (v old).
I have formatted my PC but now my sound isn't working.
I have done a windows update which picked up the ac97 and I downloaded a new driver for it.
When I finished everything I noticed that I have no speaker icon in the sys tray. and when I look in sounds and audio properties in the control panel it says no audio device :( . In properties it says: This device cannot start (code 10).
Can anyone help me to get this back up and running please?

Thanks in advance

The Windows Update drivers don't always work. You must identify the computer or motherboard and download the appropriate drivers fromt he manufacturer's website.

Everest can help you identify the motherboard: http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=3
If the computer is something liek a DELL or Compaq then go to their website and find you model and they'll have all the drivers you need.
