My cousin sent me her Sony Viao computer to fix over the holidays and right when I turned it on, it was lagging so much. I tried getting rid of start ups but the CPU usage is still 100% and it has many processes going on in the back that I can't get rid of. Please help me fix the laptop... here is HJT

I am not replying to your HJT log! I am not a trained analyst and am not making any specific recommendations. That having been said, I think that you would find the free utility "Whats Running" to be very helpful with your task: http://www.whatsrunning.net/whatsrunning/main.aspx It offers a straightforward startup control interface. Sysinternals free Process Explorer is also very useful and requires no install. Just run the executable from wherever you want to put it: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/ProcessExplorer.mspx (Download link at bottom of page.) This utility gives a small pop-up of the Services running under each instance of scvhost. http://www.theeldergeek.com/services_guide.htm for a quick overview of XP Services and default settings. Also read the following about proper placement of HJT and HJT logs on your computer: http://hometown.aol.co.uk/jrmc137/hjttutorial/tutorial.htm My understanding that the default location is a temp file which is subject to deletion by almost all the disc cleaning utilities. Good luck, and post back with your progress.
Ps. I hope that your cousin can learn how to keep the machine running right so that you don't have to do this again.

Well at this current moment, I don't have the time to study up on HJT logs right now and I need a quick fix solution for her computer. When I have the time, I'll check up on the tutorials.. but for now can someone please help me on my HJT.
