You can Delete any thread you started, but not after there are replies to it, unless a Moderator helps you...

You cannot move your own posts.

It looks like we could leave it here for now. [Edit> I see what you are saying, thought you meant if you should have Posted it in the Hardware forum....but I think you mean what is in the pic, correct?

I would not think AVG should be in the Hardware entries of Device manager at all.

Do you have or once have any Norton Antivirus or similar products installed?

Are you running it from another external device, like flash drive or ext. hard disk, or CD?

PS That's the strangest thing I've seen in a while, did you just install AVG?

Hi Byteman...
You are correct. What is in the pic.
Yes. I have had Norton on the computer in the past. Removed it with Symantech's removal tool. I use AVG 7.5 now.
I found this while using the Add Hardware wizard.
AVG has been on for over a year.

Hi, The only thing I could find was that SAVRT is part of Norton, but how or why those things would be in Hardware I do not know, I will try to find info and of course, post it here! if You find what caused it, be sure you post it. Thanks!

I know you would like to remove those items> and possibly, you can in Safe Mode
BUTTTTTTT removing them may cause problems>> so if not sure you can use System Restore, or have
a way to reload the entire computer, I would not mess with them.
(In Safe Mode, sometimes at least with win9x operating systems, old removed or ghost hardware devices would remain, and could be simply "Removed" in the Safe Mode using Device Manager....

Whether or not you should touch those AVG or Norton items I can't say for sure!

Hi, Are you sure you used the right remover from Symantec for whatever version of Norton product you had?

There are two, one for older versions and one for newer and the Norton Security Suite type....

Here is the latest, is this what you are using? http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

There is an online removal thing these days...

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/0/473a034d6cfa96fa6525708b003e4dcb?OpenDocument

works for even older versions 2003 on up.

Cookiegal-- Thanks mucho for finding that about AVG error!

I'd like to report I had some trouble also uninstalling AVG 7.1 before upgrading to the new 7.5 last week. Kept getting NSIS errors-
I am using McAfee SiteAdvisor, which seems to have a bug as far as I have learned- I found info about it and posted it,

Uninstalled SiteAdvisor, got a NEW download for it, reinstalled-
the NSIS error is completely gone! I have it in one of my recent threads in Security forum someplace.

Hi Jparr111 Please try that fix and let us know how you fared.

I have to be honest..
I myself do not have this hardware issue on my computer. Beachgal does. This problem was discovered while Rollin Rog was helping with Getting Beachgal's Maxtor external hard drive and camera being recognized by the "Add Hardware Wizard". That was SOLVED.
I apologize.
Here's a shortcut to what has gone on so far in AVG Free Forum if you would like to follow it.

Yes, it's good to have relatives who know where to send me...thanks jparr111.

Thanks to Byteman for your time and Cookiegal thanks for the short cut that took us to AVG free forums...I don't know what I'd do without you folks. A person by the name of rdsok on AVG led me in the right direction and I'm all fixed now.

I appreciate everyone's help so much.

Jparr gave the link to the post in AVG free forums...go take a look.
