I have Vista and Office 2007. I want a shortcut key that will automatically insert the month/date/year in a document; i.e. August 21, 2009. Using alt + shift + D gives me the numerical date.

Try going to "Insert, the Date&Time" and select M,D.Y and then select the default button at the bottom of the pane. This should make the format you want the default.

Now try your short cut.
