I just restored Windows XP for a friend whose computer was full of viruses. I'm trying to get my Comcast Hi-Speed Internet to function on it so I can install an antivirus program for her.
Any suggestions?
Thx!!

I'M SORRY, HERE'S WHAT I DID TO RESOLVE IT...

IM MY PC:
1) Took note of TCP/IP settings via these steps-> Control Panel-> Network Connections-> right-click my Connection-> click Properties-> from General tab noticed the selected "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"-> from Atlernate Configuration tab noticed the selected "Automatic private IP address"
2) Unplugged the ethernet from my pc
2) Disconnected all cables from cable modem (coax, ethernet, power)
3) Waited 60 seconds
*THIS RESETS THE MODEM FOR NEW SETTINGS*

IN THE OTHER PC:
1) Plugged in the ethernet
2) Connected all cables into cable modem
3) Turned on both pc & modem
4) Adjusted TCP/IP settings via these steps-> Control Panel-> Network Connections-> right-click LAN Connection-> click Properties-> from General tab click/select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"-> from Atlernate Configuration tab click/select "Automatic private IP address"
5) Opened browser

I DID THIS MYSELF, BUT POSTED THE SOLUTION FOR OTHERS... THX FOR THE CONCERN!!
