Hi,

First let me say thanks to those of you who are able to share what they know and help out those with computer related problems!

I found something on my desktop yesterday and deleted it and then I found two more on my desktop today. I have attached a screen shot of the two icons that are showing up on my desktop. When I put my mouse over them it says it is a "scrap object". I have never seen these before. The only other problem that has popped up in the past day or so is when we tried to open WP. Some kind of error came up. We were able to open the document we were working on though.

Anyone have any idea what these "scrap" things are all about???

I discovered this by accident when I ended up with the same things on my desktop:

Copied directly from Help and Support:

To put part of a file on the desktop
In your file, select the text or graphic you want to copy.
Position the file window so you can see the desktop.
Drag the text or graphic to the desktop.
Notes

Once on the desktop, the text or graphic becomes a scrap, which you can drag to other documents or programs.
You can use this feature if the program you are using supports OLE drag-and-drop functions. For example, Notepad does not support OLE.

It was a case of part of a document being dragged to the desktop. My "better half" was working on a WP document and was highlighting portions of it and trying to move them elsewhere in the document ... only he would miss and they'd end up on the desktop! I tried it myself and that is exactly what happened.
I think there is still some kind of error message about Corel so I may have to re0install WP.

How do I get rid of scrap documents that now "live" on my desktop?

Each time I attempt to delete the scrap document, I receive an error message which says:

"Cannot delete Document Scrap 'file name'. It is being used by another person or program.

Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.
