Every five minutes or so, there is a message that pops up from my taskbar that states:

Your computer is infected!

Criticial System Error!
System detected virus activities. They may cause critical system failure. Please, use antimalware software to clean and protect your system from parasite programs. Click here to get all available software.

For some odd reason it doesn't have a response when i click anywhere in the actual message. I can also bring up the message when I go to the taskbar on the bottom of my desktop and click on the icon that says "Virus Alert!" when i hover my mouse over it. The icon switches back and forth from a green handicap sign and a red circle with a red cross through it. I need help to get rid of it.

I NEED TO GET RID OF THIS ANNOYING SYSTEM ALERT STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!

On my taskbar, there's always an icon that continuously blinks and is the triangular icon that's on this title. There are different messages from the icon, and for some reason, nothing happens when I right-click on the icon. This is one of the messages:
System Alert: Spyware Detected

System has detected 4 active spyware applications that may cause your computer to crash and restart, slow it to a crawl and even shut down it entirely.
Click the icon to get rid of unwanted spyware.

The only thing that happens when i click it with my left mouse button is that it directs me to a pop-up and there's nothing that can help me. The other message says this:
System Alert: Popups

Your computer is infected with spyware managing pop-up advertisements ( OHPE ver 4.12_23). Click icon to learn more on what you can do about pop-up windows and other unwanted software.

Make sure you save the file to a permanent folder and post a log.

To create a permanent folder click My Computer, then C:\
In the menu bar click on File, New, Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis". Now you have C:\HJT\ folder.
Put your HijackThis.exe into that folder.

Run HijackThis and click Open the Misc Tools section
Click Open Uninstall Manager, Save list and save the log to your Desktop.
A list of programs will open in Notepad. Post the contents of the log here in your next reply.

Please download (save) SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your desktop.
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop. Select all of the contents and Extract them
to a new folder called SmitfraudFix.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
• Choose your usual account.

Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning: running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Please post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log in your next reply.

Look in your control panel add/remove programs for MediaTickets by OIN
Download and run this uninstaller:

Download (save) combofix from one of these two sites:

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

It's a good idea to Flush your System Restore after removing malware:

• On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
• Click Properties.
• Click the System Restore tab.
• Check Turn off System Restore.
• Click Apply, and then click OK.
• Restart the computer.

To create a new restore point:

• Start go to All Programs
• Accessories, System Tools and select System Restore.
• In the System Restore wizard, select "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
• Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup".
• Click Create and you're done.
