ok, weird problem. When I start my computer, instead of the "Welcome to Windows" dialog box coming up, my computer just hangs at the blue screen. It never did this before. What's the problem? Thanx!

BTW, XP Pro SP2 and I use the CTRL+ALT+DEL to get into my computer instead of the other thing. Everything works fine in safe mode. HELP!

I was going to reinstall windows on top of itself, but your ideas sound better. I'll check device manager, then I'll check spyware, heat is not an issue right now, just dusted. And it's kind of funny, i turned off and disconnected my computer to dust my computer desk, then I just plugged it back in and it won't work. Battery seems fine, clock is working fine.

cheeseball I think you hit it right. Nothing is showing up in Device Manager. Please don't tell me I have to reformat!!!! Is it because I'm in safe mode that I cannot see hardware in Device Manager.

nah, i got the device manager problem under control. But windows still will not show the log-in dialog when the computer starts unless I boot to safe mode.

LOL yes

I'm wondering if it's something really simple that we could be overlooking.

Have you recently updated anything? Or added any new hardware?

When you said you were dusting, did you clean the inside of the computer too? I wonder if maybe something became loose.

OK, you're going to call me stupid, but here's what I did, I had my S-Video out plugged in, so the computer thought my TV was the primary monitor. Therefore nothing was coming up on my monitor, but I just happened to switch my TV to S-Video IN by mistake and guess what was on the screen. Yupp! Well thanks guys, hope I didn't piss you off too much..lol
