C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\yyyhhh.exe

Leave you system as it is and wait for their response - don't try and do anything unitl they show, including booting.

This is the qoologic/narrator trojan:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\yyyhhh.exe

Click here to download Find It NT-2K-XP.zip.

Unzip it and double-click on Find.bat to run it. When the command window first opens, it will say "File not found". Ignore that and let it continue to run until it finishes. It may take it a few minutes. It will open an Output.txt file when it completes. Copy and paste the contents of output.txt here. Once that's done, close the text file and then press any key and the batch file will end.

Click Here and download the the new version of Killbox and save it to your desktop.

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Delete on Reboot. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file on next reboot. Click Yes. It will then ask if you want to reboot now. Click No. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\zzzeee.dll

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqqppp.dat

C:\WINDOWS\system32\yyywww.exe

C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\STARTM~1\Programs\Startup\yyyhhh.exe

After you past the last file in Killbox and it asks if you want to reboot, answer yes and let it reboot.

After it restarts, run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close ALL windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [navapp] C:\Program Files\NavExcel\NavHelper\v2.0.4d\navapp.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CSV10P70] C:\Program Files\CSBB\CSv10P070.exe

Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Now find and delete these folders:

C:\Program Files\NavExcel
C:\Program Files\CSBB
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsxsvc
C:\WINDOWS\System32\vmss

Restart your computer again.

Now we need to remove the reg enties added by the narrator trojan. To get the info I need for that, please do the following:

Open Hijack This. Click on the "Config" button in the lower right corner. Now click on "Misc Tools" then under "Generate Startup List" put a check by "List also minor sections (full)" and "List empty sections (Complete)". Now click on the "Generate Startup List" button and copy and paste the contents of the list back here as well.

Run the SilentRunners.vbs file. If your antivirus has a script blocker, you will get a warning asking if you want to allow SilentRunners.vbs to run. It might say something like "Malicious Script Warning". This script is not malicious so you are safe in allowing it to run.

When it is finished it will produce a Startup Programs text file. Copy and paste that text file here in your next reply.

Click here to download track.zip. Unzip it to your desktop. Doubleclick on the track.vbs file and let it run. After it runs it will tell you to press any key to continue. Press any key and it will open a Look.txt file. Copy that and post it here as well. As I said with the last script you may get a warning. It is not malicious so you can allow it to run

*Note: There will be more here than you can post in one reply so it will be easier to just copy all the logs to one notepad file and name it info.txt. Save the file to your desktop and then attach it to your next post.

I am attaching a goaway.zip file to this post. Download it and unzip it to your desktop.

Doubleclick on goaway.reg to add it to the registry. Answer yes to confirm.

Restart your computer. Come back here and post another Hijack This log.

Clean!

Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.

Check this out for info on how to tighten your security settings and some good free tools to help prevent this from happening again.

IMPORTANT!: I highly recommend that you go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs" except for Service Pack 2 ASAP!. This will patch numerous security holes in IE and Windows. Many baddies get on your machine by taking advantage of these vulnerabilities. As your machine stands now it is wide open to attack from all sorts of nasties. You need to get these updates IMMEDITELY!

Note: At this time I do not recommend that you install Service Pack 2 until you have read the info at the following links and are sure that it will not cause problems with your system:

flrman1 & MFDnSC,

Thank you sooooo much for your help :) I will follow your recommendations on the updates and other suggestions. As for donations, I had just made a donation last week before this problem came up and I do support your site because it is so helpful. I have to ask myself though, is Microsoft aware of this many problems that I see on this site happening to the consumer? How can the average consumer be expected to go through as many steps and hours as we did to fix their PC's. Where can I go to learn to interpert the HJT logs and solve my own problems at? Again Thanks........KC
