Solved: Question about Trojan.zlob.-Media-Codec

I wanted to post here earlier tonite for some help. Not sure who in my house did it,but it was a monster. I eventually took my laptop down to factory. I didnt want to because it would have been a great learning experience. Here's what happened and my question. I had antispyware programs, even trend microsystems Pc-Cillin (dunno how it got past). My internet security was up to date. I couldn't connect to the internet to update any of the spyware programs I had. Trend couldn't connect to its servers. (I wish I could post a copy of the convo with tech support. Everyone needs a good laugh) I couldn't back up my files, kept getting an error.

Outside of restoring it to factory. Without being able to update software, how could I have eradicated it?

Here is the exact name of it. Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec

SmitFraudFix is most likely what we would have started with.
Thank you very much. Saddest thing is, I had THAT fix the whole time. Hadn't slept for 2 days so my short term memory was shot.

Thanks again for your assistance.
