I have Windows XP.

Problem with AOL's Instant messanger "IM"

I have been useing IM for quite some time now all of a sudden when I sign in and I get my SIGN ON window: I sign on with my user name and my password. Once the buddy window opens up and I see my buddy list, I try to contact a buddy by clicking on the buddy name. Once I click on the buddy name it opens up a dialog box to begin my communication. All of a sudden another box opens up and says:

AOL Instant Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

For more information about this error click here. (I click there and then another box opens and says

ERROR Signature:
AppName: aim.exc AppVer: 5.9.3702.0 ModName: hyperbarss3.dll
ModVer 1.0.1.1 Offset 00001141.

I have unistalled and reinstalled IM several times and it keeps comming up with this same message every time.

Can someone help me I really use my IM a lot, I belong to a forum for people who are dieing from heart related illnesses and we chat together and help one another through bad times, now I can not use it If anyone can help my direct e-mail address is [email protected] Thanks ~ !

Cheeseballs idea seems to have fixed it, I uninstalled my 5.9 version again and I reinstalled 5.2 version and I have lost that pop up box saying there was a error. I have no one to talk to right now but I will know in a day when we get on line together again ~~~~ THANK YOU GUYS for the help !!!!!
