After installing a second hard drive, (Seagate Ultra ATA/100 120 Gig) setup shows "primary hard drive 1 not found." The jumpers on both drives are set to cable select; the primary hard drive 0 is on the end of the ribbon cable and the second drive is on the middle connector. Setup identifies the primary hard drive 0 correctly and primary hard drive 1 as "unknown."
System fails to boot in this configuration and sends me back to the setup utility.
If I disconnect the second drive (primary hard drive 1) and change setup to "off" for this drive the system boots fine.
Any ideas?

Thanks

I see you have a dell. Quite often dell ships the system with any unused ide channels disabled in the bios.
Enter the bios and check that all ides [1&2 master and slaves] are set to auto. Next try a new cable.

I think it was the ribbon cable. After changing it, it now boots ok and setup sees the new drive. However, it doesn't show up in My Computer listings. How do I fix that?
