I have had a broadband connection with V21 for 2 years but recently when they had their well documented problems, I had to go back to dial up. Then they said that broadband should be ok again but I haven't been able to get it to work I have left about 10 messages on their members site but they haven't answered! I managed to speak to there technical help (once) who gave me a new username I put this in but I still can't get connected the login status says ppp not connected (?) is there anything I can do about this? I have checked modem connections and they are all ok

Nothing comes to mind if the service isn't working.

All I can think is that you should make sure the username you're typing in is the same as the username they set you up with. :) Get support to spell out both the username and password using the adam=a bob=b cat=c... type of system so that there are no mistakes. Failing that perhaps support could email it to you so you're sure you have the right information. I've said it once before on this forum but I had a client who had the word language exchange and they kept typing in their password as langXXXX but after talking with support I discovered that the password was lanXXXX. Very easy mistake to make and to gloss over. They both sound the same unless you're listening very carefully and even then you can miss it.

Thanks I already did that, they spelt it out for me and I read it back to them but it was after I had put it in and tried to log on I discovered that it said ppp connection not connected!

Im not certain about that, but on the binatone broadband page under login settings it says: protocol: PPPoA VC-MUX under that it says VPC O then VCI: 38 then ASDL Handshake then protocol : Auto sense -G dmt.first and last of all connection mode : Always on.
But when I click on diagnostic test it says PPP not connected. Don't know if any of this will help but it's good to get someone elses opinion

Excellent :)

I'm now with Virgin Media, as they bought Telewest. Been thru hell last week with no connection. Complaing all week, and got a refund for my trouble. Working okay now *touch wood*.
