EXPLANATION - (feel free to skip this paragraph)
okay i'm brand spanking new to PHP. i'm just trying to learn the language so i can make some kick-butt websites and hopefully generate some adsence revenue. anywho, I bought a domain name and a few books to practice and refer to.. basically right now i'm using the Jcow social network engine as practice. i downloaded the zip file and installed it on the remote server, but i keep backups of the enire webpage on my laptop, mostly for editing purposes. when editing pages on my laptop and viewing them in my browser they look nothing like they look on the server... i did some googling a found out about the command line abilities of php and i was hoping if i installed php cli on my laptop that may make editing my php document easier because my browser would only see the html?

did that last paragraph make any sence at all?

basically i need to know if it is possible and how i might be able intall php cli on my nonserver windows 7 laptop so that i can edit and view php scripts in my browser while in offline mode?

Install Wamp server or Xamp (both free) and you will be able to run PHP on your laptop so you will see what the pages look like. As to editing the PHP any text editor will do like Notepad which you already have, Notepad++ is a better free text editor.
