Hi!

in the last weeks i get a lot of mails with attachments... the mails don't have a lot of words... just "your document" "your photo" things like that... i'm 100% sure that they are viruses...
so i delete them...
but today i got mail that open me a popup window, that say "it is now safe to use your pc"... all the system get stuck, & only the "finish" button in the popup window is active... i'm sure that if i'll click it i can say goodbye to my pc...
so my question is:

How can i set outlook from the registry/ini files to NOT preview mails?

(so i could open outlook & delete that mail... because now i can't open it... every time i open outlook, i get a preview of that mail which opens the popup which stuck my pc.....)
thx

I don't know where it is in the registry, but you can start Outlook with the preview switched off

If you installed Outlook in the default folder, then go to Start, run and enter "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe" /nopreview in the box and click OK.

If you installed it in a different folder, then just find where you have outlook.exe and use that address instead of the default one above, but add the space/nopreview to the end of it.

after you enter Outlook using the switch, then delete or move the mail from your inbox.

shut Outlook down, and restart it normally, then click on each folder and go to View, and make sure Preview Pane is turned off.

this is assuming you have Outlook, and not Outlook Express.

If the above post does nto work for you, then come back with what type of Outlook you are using, what version, and what Operating System.

I can't seem to find an easy way around this.

Go to http://www.bme.ie/resource/webapp/email_msoe_en.htm and look at the section labelled PC/Windows crashes immediately after starting Outlook Express

He talks about starting OE in newsreader mode, which should let you disable the Preview Pane from there.
