Just added new laptop to linksys and I'm getting one green light only at laptop. Cable (140') and connectors test good. It works fine with 4' factory cable. Is this just cheap connectors?

Standard Cat 5 cable should work up to 328 feet (100 metres).

What sort of cable are you using?

if a different cable worked fine, then either the connectors are not correctly done, bad wiring, or just bad cable all round.

Check the cable pairs are properly matched, that is critical.

:up: The links helped. Actually their large color diagrams on the 19" monitor. The problem could have been avoided with a stonger presciption on my reading glasses. thanks, Matt
