I friend of mine uses windows 2000 and needs ODBC for a school project.

Thing is, it doesn't seem to exist in her control panel.

Do you have any ideas what may be the cause of that?

In control panel, open BDE Administrator, then click the "Object" folder. Is ODBC in there?

I asked her and she said she finds no "BDE administrator" there.
I can only see "Administrative tools", is that what you meant?

Just a note, I never used win2000.

It should be under administrative tools, data sources. Run sfc/ scannow from a command prompt if it's missing.

Does she have any kind of database application installed, such as MS Access? The BDE Administrator I had you looking for is the Borland Database engine. It usually gets installed with just about any application that depends on a database, at least thats what I've found to be the case.
