Don't worry too much about it, the terms ATA or Ultra ATA and IDE are used almost interchangeably and the number denotes the abilities of the drive, mainly the interface speed. All you need to know is that you need a 2.5" drive and it needs to be PATA/IDE and NOT SATA. Depending on the age of the laptop you may want it to be 120GB or smaller.
