Can anyone tell me how to revert back to WMP 10? I have the .exe and tried to install, but got a message saying my version of windows was incompatible. Funny. It was compatible before I upgraded to 11. What gives?

I am running XP Home

hi, go to... start>control panel>add/remove programs...check the box on top that says "show updates...scroll down to wmp11, highlight it and select remove.

that should revert you back to wmp10...or have you already done that?

i've had no probs. with wmp11...just lucky i guess

Well, what I don't like is, trying to make the datgum thing find album info. It won't do it. Also, I don't like the fact that it doesn't give you options in [ adding to library ]. Maybe if I could get a comment on those 2 issues, I would change my mind.
Thanks t bone and bassetman. If I don't change my mind, I'll try t bone's advice and then bassetman's if that don't work.

open wmp11>tools>options>privacy tab....i have those 5 things in the "enhanced playback etc." section checked and it seems to retrieve info ok.

if yours are checked and it's still not retrieving maybe your firewall is blocking it somehow ?

i'm not sure what you mean by
"it doesn't give you options in [ adding to library ]"

what kind of options are you talking about?

t bone -

In wmp 10: if you wanted to add just one folder to library, well, you had that option. In 11, I was going to add just one folder [ I even had to edit the path that was already there; I guess by default? Anyway it was c:/documents and settings/me/mydocuments/mymusic ] So, I edit the path to point to the folder I want the dumb thing to scan and add, and it starts scanning the whole my music folder.
It even showed that the path had been manually added, but still scanned the whole my music folder.
I removed that path and added it again and the datgum thing scanned all of c:

I still haven't tried the methods that you guys have offered. I really like the look of 11. I just like being in control of my player and with 11, it seems as though you don't have much.
btw t bone: the top 5 are all checked in my privacy tab.
I select the files, right click, find album info and - nothing.
