I just upgraded to XP Professional this morning from ME. Once everything was installed I decided I wanted to listen to some music. I fired up Winamp, redid some settings and hit play. No sound was coming out of my speakers. If I turn them up high enough I can hear a sound kind of like a gust of wind. I then tried sending an instant message over AIM to see if I could hear the instant message sound, but alas I could not. I've reinstalled the latest drivers (SoundBlaster Live for XP), reinstalled DirectX... made sure everything was plugged in... made sure it wasnt muted. If anyone has any ideas on how I can fix this, it would be GREATLY (I stress greatly) apprecciated.

Hiya and welcome

Have you got any conflicts? Go to Control Panel | System. device Manager (It may be in Hardware). Are there any conflits for your soundcard? You're looking for a yellow ! You may need to expand the +

Are you getting any windows errors?

Regards

eddie

i am not sure about this, but I had the same problem when I upgraded the first time. As for me, I would go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Win XP. Then I would do a clean-upgrade the second time. i think It should take care of that problems.

digital or analog?

Open Volume Control, make sure Options>Advanced Controls is checked and then choose the Advanced button. Make sure Digital Output Only is checked if digital or not checked if Analog.
