I just noticed that in the properties settings for my 2 hard drives there is no DMA setting and both have Sync data Transfer ticked.

Could this be because they are on IDE 3 & 4 controled by the HPT370 IDE controller?

What is Sync data Transfer?

Thanks!

The no dma is normal when running drives off a controller.

The sync data transfers increases data transfer speed, sorry can't give a better definition for it. Generally the drives will run asyncronous, which is slower

Thanks BrianF, That's a good enough explination. It made me realize that this Abit MOBO has a built in, add on card. I kept calling it a second BIOS.
Also things are normal.

Thanks again!
