Hi Guys,

I've got a Win98SE machine that runs Novell client.I have a Realtek 8139/810 NIC installed (Device manager indicates nic is installed successfully, latest drivers also) but when I go to perform a IPCONFIG /ALL, this Realtek NIC does not show up nor does the details such as IP address, gateway etc. I only have "0 Ethernet Adapter" details. I have tried other NICs and still no good. I have performed a window install over the top but still no good. I have even tried it without the Novell software running and still no good. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

IPCONFIG will show your IP address information. If you don't have TCP/IP installed, there won't be anything to show.

And if you do have TCP/IP installed, how it it configured and what is the computer connecting to?

Hi Bob,

thanks for the tip... I've managed to find out the problem... must have been a faulty PCI slot. I tried a different slot and all was sweet. Put the NIC back into the same old slot and it failed... but strangely it detected the NIC and installed drivers etc without hassle. thanks so much..
