Anybody else using NE6? If you want to burn a disc and you use this sequence:

Nero Smartstart|Audio|Make MP3 disc, when you select files from the directory using either drag-n-drop or cut-n-paste, it takes FOREVER to copy the files over.

However, when you use this sequence:

Nero Smartstart|Data|Make data disc, the files copy over instantaneously. All the options appear to be the same, no more and no less between methods.

So WHY does it take so long when choosing the first method and is there any benefit to doing so? I haven't been able to see any advantage to using the first method.

Neither have I. I always use Data CD mode to write out MP3s. I find that a lot faster, although sometimes u might have to avoid putting in any other files besides mp3s if u want to play it in commercial vcd/mp3 players and portable discman. Most players skip any unrecognized files, but some dont.
To speed up loading, quit using SmartStart. Create a shortcut to the Nero Express executable on the desktop. Disable Smartstart when u insert a blank cd.

Hey, opo~

Thanks for your response. As far as bypassing the smartstart, I guess you're like me. I don't like unnecessary layers of programming fat clogging everything up. I had just installed Nero to see if it would recognize my RW drive for disc burning because Roxio Easy CD Creator wasn't, so I hadn't "optimized" Nero for max efficiency at the time when I noticed the quirk about file handling! ;)
