Microsoft keeps telling me I have not installed important updates but they are for Office 2007 and I do not have this on my Windows XP computer. I have a permanent warning on the taskbar and daily reminders - I go to Microsoft Updates and then Custom and untick the update for it to be hidden but there seem to be new ones all the time. Does anyone know how to tell Microsoft not to try and give me updates for a program I do not have, please?

What version of Office do you have?

Are you running the Office 2007 compatibility pack so you can open .docx documents in an earlier version of Word?

If so, it will require the Office 2007 updates.

Many thanks - that makes sense as I run Office 2000 but did download something ages ago to be able to open .docx documents. The reason I first noticed these Office updates was because one failed (I don't know why) but after your response I restored the hidden updates and they all installed perfectly. Thanks again - I am always impressed with the help from this site.
