I have two computers that need more memory, at least I think.
They are dell Dimensions 4550 and 2400. My question is, can I pull out
the old memory card without having to reinstalling everything.

Let me take a stab at what I think you are asking: If you remove the old memory stick, do you have to reinstall operating system and/or all software? The answer is no, it will not impact software or the operating system. Just be sure the system is turned off when you do it.
Is that the question you were trying to ask?

Just for your information:

The Dell Dimension 4550(400 MHz FSB) supports up to 1024 MB of RAM and uses DDR PC2100 modules.

The Dell Dimension 4550(533 MHz FSB) supports up to 1024 MB of RAM and uses DDR PC2700 modules.

The Dell Dimension 4550(800 MHz FSB) supports up to 1024 MB of RAM and uses DDR PC3200 modules.

The Dell Dimension 2400(400 MHz FSB) supports up to 2048 MB of RAM and uses DDR PC2100 modules.

The Dell Dimension 2400(533 MHz FSB) supports up to 2048 MB of RAM and uses DDR PC2700 modules.

The Dell Dimension 2400(800 MHz FSB) supports up to 2048 MB of RAM and uses DDR PC3200 modules.
