I would like to watch some movies off of my laptop onto my TV(I do not have a DVD player yet after a rather big move)...how do i do this? Is it just a matter of getting a S-Video cable and maybe some speakers for my laptop?

All suggestions are welcome.

thanks in advance

SO you are talking about playing CDs videos and watch them on the TV....

Use a S-Video cable from your laptop to your TV ( if your TV doesn't not have S-Video in then you can get an adapter) If it does plug it in and put it on the channel that receives that signal....get a cable for that will go from your Headphones out and will connect to your TV in ports (maybe RCA)

Leave the TV ON and hooked up to your PC...then Restart your PC and it should recognize the connection.....you don't need to put the Audio in to test it, it just will not have any sound.

From what I read, Links2 does have a DVD drive on his laptop, but not a stand-alone 'home theater' type DVD player. The procedure is the same as bonk described, though. TV on, plug in s-video to both TV and laptop, restart laptop. As for the sound, RadioShack (if you've got them in BC) or any decent electronics store will have 1/8" to stereo RCA connections for hooking up your headphone jack to the TV inputs. Something like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...kw=1/8+to+rca&kw=1/8+to+rca&parentPage=search

Hold on, are you saying that I can connect my laptop sound(via headphone jack) to my TV sound?
Yup. You can get a y adapter - mini-plug->RCA to connect the laptop headphone jack to the TV's RCA sound inputs, OR, to connect the laptop headphone jack to your home stereo amplifier, on an unused input. If the latter, make sure the laptop sound is near '0', before powering up. Tweeter drivers in your [Cerwin-Vegas] do NOT like sudden power-up's at all!
