I have OS WinXP 2002 serv. pack 2 Home Edition. I also have 1 SATA drive and an IDE drive both connected. I have more empty master and slave "ports?" denoted on the 1st boot screen. I know I need a bigger power supply probably, but does XP allow 2+HDD's?

I have three SATA drives and an IDE drive connected to this machine right now, and if I stuff a drive into the second drive drawer, I'd have five. So, I'd have to say yes. :) Figure 20 watts maximum for each additional hard disk.

If you think you may have power supply or heat problems ..
Have you thought about using USB/Firewire external HD enclosures for you extra HDs ?

I have the capacity to use 6 IDE hard drives with a DVD reader and a DVD rewriter.
I usually have 4 drives and the optical drives attached.
