Since 9pm yesterday I have been at my wits end... I got some sort of malware or virus - and have been trying everything to get rid of it.
I've never been here before, so you might have to help me with the "hijack" log thing that everyone seems to be posting...
Machine specs Mac Pro 2.2,66 Ghz Dual-Core Intel. However, this is a Windows XP problem....
I run a VM copy of Windows XP under Parallels Desktop for Mac. It's the WinXP that is messed up.
If I try to launch Internet Explorer I get "IEXPLORE.EXE - Unable to Locate Component. The application has failed to start because msvcrl.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
(a search on the internet says msvcrl.dll is malware related??)
Since last night I've tried Trend Micro Internet Security, AVG, Spyware Doctor, Spybot, SpyZooka - nothing.
I had both "Ultimate Defender" and then "Spy Sheriff" for a while - these seem to be gone, but I still can't use Internet Explorere.
And lastly, after reading here I tried the fixes for not being able to Release and Renew.
WinsockXPfix seemed to run, and asked for a reboot. Still no connection.
Tried the CMD line netsh options given up here - but neither of those will run - it says they fail.
I'm truly losing my mind on this one. Please help as soon as you can.
Thanks in advance,
Barbara
