IE8 seems to be freezing up regulary on me these days. It usually happens after I open a few tabs. When I go from one tab to another, the program stops responding. When I go to shut it down in processes, there are anywhere from 3-8 instances of "iexplore.exe" runninig.

Anyone ever expierience this problem before?

Thanks.

It's normal to have many instances of iexplore.exe if you have a few tabs open in IE8. If only one of your tabs has frozen for whatever reason, you can kill that page only and still keep your other important pages open. IE7 didn't create more than one instance of the iexplore.exe process.

Have you tried running IE8 without the Add-ons?

I first disabled a few add-ons and it helped for a while and then started freezing again. After that, I went through and disabled a bunch more and that seemed to do the trick.

However, one of the add-ons I disabled prevents me from being able to do certain things. For instance, in my router setup, I cannot click the button to save changes, but I can in Firefox. I also cannot add items to my cart on staples.com.

Anyone know what add-on might need to be enabled to do those things?

Thanks.

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do not fix anything

The whole process should take under 2 minutes...

I just enabled the "CBrowserHelperObject Object" and that seemed to help with clicking on certain buttons. I think the "Drive Letter Access" was the issue.

Thanks.
