I've just reformatted my system. I use to have a box pop up when I inserted a cd that gave me the options of which program that I wanted to open the file with such as open using Windows Explorer, Media Player etc. How do I restore this? XP

Hi, Here is a little download I found, to correct AutoPlay settings in XP (note you have to have a valid copy of XP to download the tool).

This is what you want to repair, so that you see the dialog boxes again, and can change the default action you want taken when you insert any type of disk.

Read the links, especialy this one> Using and configuring AutoPlay they are down below the big gold colored download box, under "Related Resources".

Is this what I need to correct it? When I go to my computer to open the disk they are called Setup Wizard. not the name that I have given the disk. I just want to make sure that I don't make things worse. (Yes my copy is valid)

Hi, You're Welcome!
Yes, the Wizards....quite a few in XP :)

Things like AutoPlay are enable/disable- able, tweakable in other words. They make a nice utility called TweakUIXP just to turn things on and off like you did.
