Hello,

I am going to be purchasing a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro sound card and a Creative GigaWorks S750 7.1 Speaker System and I was wondering, if the X-Fi Elite Pro comes with its own control and in/out console box, and if I connect the sound card to the console box, how exactly do I connect the console box to the GigaWorks S750 subwoofer so I could have the full 7.1 surround sound feel to my room? And do I need the console box connected to the sound card at all to get the 7.1 surround sound quality?

Thanks

These are good reviews of the X-Fi Elite Pro sound card -These reviews also show you and explain to you what the connections are and what cables come with the Sound Card

I've had a couple of Creative sound cards with the console. They have been the internal models, but I don't think the setup of the external console would be any different. I apologize if I am not correct with what follows since I don't have personal experience with your setup. However, the general arrangement is that your satellites plug into the subwoofer and the subwoofer connects to plugs on the back of the sound card (which is 7.1). And that's it. Speaker controls are done with a utility within Windows. The external console has a headphone jack with a volume control for that. All the other plugs and controls are for things other than your speakers. In fact for most individuals the console is not a necessary item.

Edit: I went to the Creative Web site and I found this line "Easy control of Sound Blaster X-Fi through the convenient, external break-out-box". So I guess it does more than the usual consoles. Hard to tell from the picture. Speaker setup should be the same.
