Okay... That is strange, but was your computer up-to-date before install IE 7? Also, are you sure that the updates are not the same ones and they are failing to install?

What does the list of updates look like when you go to Windows Updates website?

Joe
it should be updated...i've always had it on automatic! !!!!

i run regular virus programs and registry scanners...! there they are, (updates) waiting everytime i turn it off! its very mysterious! Joanne (

I've heard M$ publishes updates on the second Tuesday of the month.
Why run Auto update .. You might also get something you don't want .. like IE7

I show no new updates since 12.13.06

Some of the Wizards here do not recommend messing with the "Registry"
The created problems can be worse than the anticipated Gain.

 i was following the instructions on the web page
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...cc16eaf926&p=1
i got as far as # 3
Security update 927978 for MSXML 4.0, for MSXML 4.0 SP1, and for MSXML 4.0 SP2 does not support the complete removal of MSXML 4.0 because this version of MSXML is installed in side-by-side mode. To work around this issue, follow these steps: 1. Remove security update 927978 by using the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel.
2. Delete the MSXML4.dll file from the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder.
3. Repair the previous installation of MSXML 4.0 by using the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel.
The earlier versions of the Msxml4.dll and Msxml4r.dll files are restored to both the side-by-side folder and the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder.
• You may receive the following error message when you install this security update from Windows Update:

and when i tried repairing the msxml.4.0 in the add remove program i got this error message
the path
c:\d5ec8af1181ab57f852dce5d3c48\msxml.msi' cannot be found. verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package msxml.msi in a folder from which youcan install the product msxml.4.0 sp2 {KB927978}

And to make matters worse...when i read the rest of the instructions...well.... i'm lost ....arghhhhhhhhh....may just do a "system restore?"....all my stuff is backed up? that may be my best bet right? someone? anyone?
just not my day....i had taken "snapshots" of all the messages (using MW snap 3) but when i try to upload it into my message, it got the error message that my file exceed limits...it was 400 kb and i was only alowd 200...it was saved in bmp format, i changed it to jpeg...same error message...same amout exceed!! arghhh ..think i'll just wipe it clean (?) whatya say??
i don't know nuff bout it to follow all the rest of the instructions on that web site....sorry.....:(
confused!!

You should do what you would do regularly. Once you perform your install the first thing you do is download every critical update you can find. If you're also going to install MS Office then you should install MS Office then go to the updates website and setup Microsoft updates rather than just Windows updates. Turn automatic updates off and keep downloading and installing updates until there are non left. Once you've performed all the updates turn Automatic updates back on and schedule it for some time when you know the computer will be on.
Have fun. :)
