This is my DADs pc now, we are trying to format his hard drive i get to the point where it asks me whether i want to procced, i put yes and hit enter, it then doesnt start formatting, it just say C:\WINDOWS?

how are you formatting it? are you using a windows xp disk to boot from and format the disk?

have you tried using a program that is called disk killer. i have found it most usefull it is called kill disk... i have found it most useful. give it a go then use your windows xp...

YES! It worked, his hard drive is formatting as we speak. Thank You!

glad to be of help. that is what we are all here for. if you ever have any other formatting problems just use teh kill disk as a boot up foppy. run it then format.. it ises it's own dos file system to format so it will format any version of windows
