Will someone please explain to me why my available physical memory goes up and down like the wind? Seems like when I clean it out to get more, it reads I have less.
Thanks for the info.

Unless you're having some specific issue, I'd suggest you not spend a lot of time worrying about it. Windows actually does a pretty good job of managing memory.

If you have some specific issue, my take is that you should attack that, but varying free memory is not really a problem.

How are you "cleaning it out"?

I use easycleaner to clean it, I defrag, I clean out the temp files, you know all the normal stuff. My memory goes from in the 80's, which I don't mind, to 15! Then I mind. lol I am running two computers, one has enough I don't worry about, but my smaller machine is my concern.
Thanks JohnWill!

Are you referring to RAM memory or hard drive space? EasyCleaner can free up hard drive space but thats not the same memory that Task Manager is showing which changes based on what you doing, ie. what you're running as each program that runs requires some memory.

Right Triple6, I know it will change depending on what I have opened, but I check it with nothing opened and it changes like a rollar coaster. When it gets to 15 I don't like it. I am talking about the system info you know.
Thank you.

Windows loads lots of services on startup as well as all those programs that run in the background, you may see some icons in the System Tray.

Task Manager is one of the better ways to check usage and to see what programs or processes are using how much RAM.

Are you running W98 or WME by any chance? Are you talking about system resources? That is a known issue with those operating systems.

Triple6, I am going to system info. You telling me that tast manager is a better information on my available memory? Please tell me how to use that. Thanks in advance.

JohnWill, I am going to system info for my physical available memory. I use XP.

In that case, I'd stop worrying about it unless you're experiencing problems. :)

Well Task Manager shows more useful info for memory and CPU usage, but XP is really good at managing system resources and unless you are having issues then everything is likely OK(as mention by JW).
